It's so late and I can't seem to sleep. Need to be It's so late and I can't seem to sleep. Need to be up in 4 hours for work and I can't seem to slow my mind down. So may as well share another painting. 4x6 post card on canvas pallet. I found an amazing video today on landscapes that I really need to share with you guys somehow that just open my eyes with so many Ah Hah moments today. And I tried painting this one half way through watching it. I could feel my rules oriented mind holding control of my technique and I really need to figure out how to step back and release those rules. I will in time but I admit I instantly saw a difference in this piece. Well, good night world.
Picked up a pretty nice table top leaning easel at Picked up a pretty nice table top leaning easel at Hobby Lobby. Go snag one because it's usually $60 and I got it in their half off sale. Needs some rubber foot pads but for now it makes the perfect drying table for the paintings I've done so far. That's all the stuff I've done in the last few days minus Garry the skull.
Not going to lie, this is one of those paintings I Not going to lie, this is one of those paintings I really don't care for. Probably painted for about 2 hours to get this and it feels really cheap to me unfortunately. Not sure if refinement will rescue this design with my limited knowledge in painting so far, and I'd much rather go back and use my time refining a other one of my pieces k feel better about. Once again this one is another google search and I'm itching to get my new camera in so I can start my hunt for my own images.
So nice and compact!!! #meeden plein air box! This So nice and compact!!! #meeden plein air box! This is gunna be fun!
Here's another work in progress I forgot to upload Here's another work in progress I forgot to upload last night. Not sure how I feel about this one.
Ok, this one is one of my favorite #oil paintings Ok, this one is one of my favorite #oil paintings so far and so tiny! I went by hobby lobby today and they had 50% off a ton of canvas stuff, so I picked up some more 9x12 panel canvas for my plein air kit, and... some 4x6 aka. Post card size (see the other photo). So I figured since I have to paint smaller, and also the see big picture of the scene in shapes, I'd try to go as small as I could. So post card size it is! This one is just a reference photo from Google (Not selling this one since it's not my original image) and this is another one of those times where I just painted what I saw. And i just wasn't feeling it on the canvas side. Till I got up and walked away for 30 minutes. When I came back it all kicked and I stood there going. "Wow, I just painted that..." my goal is really to learn to get that atmospheric haze figured out that gives art so much depth. Seriously this has been a ton of fun. Wow. This one still has a little more to go once it dries a little. And dnefinitely is not meant to be seen quite this close. I personally like it from about 1.5 to 2 feet away.#oilpaintingart #oilpainting
Ok more show and tell. I tried to paint about 4 di Ok more show and tell. I tried to paint about 4 different scenes/landscapes on this 8x10, and ended up constantly turping everything off and starting over again, I finally got fed up and just decided to do a still life off my iPad. I GIVE YOU... AN APPLE! Exciting right? Yes it was on a high alpha background so I painted it as it was and not on some moody Grey or black that would have made it pop. This is one of those times where you really don't like the final piece, walk away, come back and go "hey look! That's an apple! Guess I did ok after all..." Also yes I know you can still see my sketch lines not fully painted over. I just got bored with the subject and called it quits. Maybe I'll touch this up in the future when I get more under my belt.#oilpainting #oilpaintings #oil
Show and tell, this painting is my least favorite Show and tell, this painting is my least favorite to date but served a purpose. I have been following rules to a T and attempting to paint only from a limited pallet. Red, blue, yellow, white, and brown. And I wanted to see how vibrant I could get mixed colors. So this painting on an 8x10 canvas panel is all from my imagination and purposefully pushing the colors as hard as I could. #oilpainting
Well here's my second attempt at oil based off a p Well here's my second attempt at oil based off a picture I took of my boat a while back... not much of a fan of this one, but I'll share the good along with the bad. :0) on a small 8x10 canvas panel. Trying to practice a bit smaller because I'm getting ready for plein air painting. 9x12 / 8x10 is the biggest my wet box will carry so trying to think small.#oilpainting
