Quote from Matt Kirby on January 11, 2024, 9:56 amThought I'd share a disc grinder upgrade that actually made using the darn thing enjoyable.
Had the grinder for years now and ruined more knives on it than anything. My appetite for using it on blades was about gone. During a casual convo last fall, I mentioned some issues I was having and the Nielsen disc was recommended once again.
I bought a few discs with the magnetic hub from Rod (haven't taken advantage of the magnetic system yet). What made all of the difference in the world for me is the actual metal disc itself! The thin profile on the edge makes it possible to see what's actually going on. The original aluminum disc that came on the grinder is way too thick and didn't work well for me.
Wanted to share in case anyone else is having issues seeing their work on a fat disc. It was definitely worth the cost for me.
