Posting Pictures on these forums

OK Everyone.....  Tim has set the photo file size at 3Mb MAXIMUM for an individual photo/file. With a maximum of TEN photos allowed per post.

That means you need to know how large a photo is before trying to post it.  OR, if you are trying to post a photo, and it won't, it's very likely the size is too large.  WORD OF WARNING..... most mobile phones take images with HUGE file sizes... so I'd recommend NOT trying to post a photo directly from you phone to the forums.  It very likely won't work.... and even if it does, it will eat up a lot of our storage space.

The best thing to do is to use a 3rd party photo hosting service.  Which usually allows you to store a huge amount of photos, at a reduced size/file size, and provide easy ways to post the photos to the forums without clogging our bandwidth.    My favorite one is.....  https://imgbb.com/  with this service, you can upload a lot of photos for free.

I highly recommend using your favorite photo editing software to resize your images.  Most photo editing software will give you options when you click "Save As".  The options under "Save As" range from "save a copy for Email or the Web", allowing you to choose a given size, to allowing a file to be saved to a specific size image such as 800x800 pixel or 1024x1024 pixels.   (for more detail use 1024, or for standard photos, use 800 pixel size.

The you can use the "Upload Files" and the browse button to navigate to the image you want to display, and just buy double clicking on the image, it will load it to the last spot your cursor was located in a post.

So far I've not figured out how to make BB Code work on these forums....but will keep searching.  That makes it very easy to post from a 3rd party hosting site....as most have an image code you simple copy/paste into most online forums.

Another image hosting sight I use is https://postimages.org/   although I don't find it to be as user friendly.

If anyone has a favorite 3rd party image hosting site, please add the here!   The ones I've listed are "free" up to so much storage, and both have the capability to "copy"/"Paste" the image/code into a forum post

Most image editing software will have the ability to reduce the file size, or save the file at a given size...... with the software I use, it has "Save a Copy"> "For Email or Web".... which gives me choices from thumbnail to full/original size.    I recommend saving to either 1024 X 1024 Pixels, for large details images, OR save to 800 X 800 pixels, which is the standard for "web viewing".    Save those images to their own folder on your computer, then upload them from there to your 3rd party image hosting site.

Hope that info is helpful...... "Bling Thing" is far better at this sort of thing then I am....so many she (Julie) can help in this area!
